What is supermarket scrip? Supermarket scrip is issued by local supermarkets ? Giant, Safeway, and Whole Foods/Fresh Fields. Longfellow PTA purchases scrip at 5 percent less than face value, and we sell them to you at their face value. You can use them at the issuing stores like gift certificates to buy your groceries.
How much money does Longfellow PTA earn on supermarket scrip? Last year (1999-2000), the PTA made more than $4,500 by selling supermarket scrip. Many schools make a lot more than that, some as much as $25,000 a year! Our goal is to substantially increase Longfellow PTAÕs sales of supermarket scrip this year so that we can take full advantage of this free fundraiser!
Why should I buy supermarket scrip? For people who do not use credit cards to purchase their groceries, purchasing supermarket scrip is a way of giving money to your PTA for free ? it costs you nothing! Even if you do use credit cards for most of your grocery purchases, please consider purchasing a small amount of scrip each month. Purchasing just $100 of supermarket scrip a month through Longfellow PTA would cost you very little and could make a huge difference to our school! In fact, if every family with children at Longfellow purchased only $100 of supermarket scrip a month for 10 months, the PTA would earn about $40,000 to spend on our kids!
How can I buy supermarket scrip and support the education of our children for free? There are many ways to purchase supermarket scrip. Find the one most convenient for you.
Subscribe to the Supermarket Scrip Program.Ê Just tell us how much scrip you want each month, and we will send you monthly reminders when it is time for you buy your scrip. Bring your checkbook every time you come to the school for a special event! Supermarket scrip will be sold at all special events ? PTA board meetings, back-to-school nights, band, orchestra, and chorus concerts, theater performances, etc. Click on "Order Form" above, print out the order form, and mail it along with your check to the address below, and we will mail the scrip back to you, or we can arrange some other form of delivery. You will receive more order forms throughout the year. Call or email Nadja Golding at the numbers below any time, and she will be glad to fill your order.
How do I subscribe to buy supermarket scrip? Click on "Subscription Form" above, print out the subscription form indicate the number of scrip certificates you wish to purchase each month and mail it to us. (Of course, you can always change the amount you want to buy later on.) At the beginning of the month, we will remind you that it is time to purchase your scrip and will arrange to get the scrip to you by whatever delivery method you prefer!
